After extensive research and development, ACTIVE AUTOWERKE has announced GEN 2 of our EL midpipes. We worked with our factories to create specially developed RESONATORS that remove rasp from the exhaust tones with minimal change in the volume of the sound. A side benefit is that this also resulted in a reduction in the "2k buzzing" annoying to some BMW owners as well as a reduction in the cold start rattle from the factory. GEN 2 will replace the existing EL midpipe, so Active Autowerke has developed an upgrade program for EL existing owners who want to take advantage of this improvement. THIS PROGRAM IS VALID FOR ORIGINAL PURCHASERS OF EL MIDPIPES ONLY - proof of purchase required. Contact Active Autowerke for details on this program which runs through 2024.
In order to take advantage of the upgrade customer, the Active customer will return the EL midpipe to Active Autowerke to be upgraded and returned to them. Customers are responsible for shipping costs to/from Active. If the customer would like to received the Gen 2 midpipe before returning the original equal length, then a $1,000 deposit is required which will be refunded when the original equal length midpipe is returned and received at Active. Shipping will be $90 fixed price within the 48 US states. The total cost includes the shipping for the upgraded equal length to the customer. For those who choose the deposit option, the total price will also include shipping back to Active for the original equal length (a shipping label will be sent with the upgraded equal length).

We are recommending to owners of cars with after-market downpipes to use the resonated version but we have only tested with stock and Active downpipes and stock and Active rear exhausts. The resonated version of this Gen 2 equal length uses the same resonated connecting pipes as the original Gen 1.
With stock downpipes, there is some small rasp so you may also want to opt for the resonated version.
